Our charity was born from love, family, and the lasting legacy of a remarkable woman: Johnnie Mae, my great-grandmother. I am Taneil, her great-granddaughter, and the founder of this organization. & Johnnie is a tribute to her spirit, wisdom, and the deep values she passed down through generations.

Growing up, I was profoundly shaped by my great-grandmother’s kindness, resilience, and unshakeable belief in the power of community. She taught me that no act of love is too small and that each of us has the ability to make a difference, no matter where we start. Her warmth and generosity were not just words — they were the way she lived her life, and they continue to guide me every day.

& Johnnie is the result of my desire to share the lessons she instilled in me and honor her memory while she is here and long after she is gone. It’s a way for me to give back, to amplify the same love and light she brought into my life. The organization reflects not only her legacy but also my own journey and the experiences that have shaped me into who I am today. Every step I’ve taken, every challenge I’ve faced, and every triumph I’ve celebrated has been influenced by her enduring presence in my heart.

Whether we’re providing resources for those in need, offering educational programs, or creating spaces for people to connect, our mission is to nurture the same sense of love, unity, and strength that my great-grandmother Johnnie Mae shared with me.
